The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the San Diego Padres 5-3 in Game 4 of the National League Division Series on Tuesday night at Petco Park, advancing to the National League Championship Series. The Dodgers won the series 3-1.
The Padres took an early lead in the game, scoring two runs in the first inning off Dodgers starter Julio Urías. However, the Dodgers came back to tie the game in the third inning on a two-run home run by Will Smith.
The Dodgers took the lead for good in the fifth inning on a two-run single by Trayce Thompson. The Padres scored one run in the seventh inning, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Dodgers' lead.
Urías pitched 5 1/3 innings for the Dodgers, allowing three runs on seven hits. He struck out seven batters and walked two. reliever Brusdar Graterol pitched 1 2/3 innings, allowing one run on two hits. closer Craig Kimbrel pitched the ninth inning, allowing one hit. He struck out two batters and earned the save.
